In 2014 I offered to help out the Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue with their website. At the time they were getting charged £10 for every new dog which they wanted adding to their website. “I’ll do that for you for nothing”, I said. Well, how difficult could it be…
The site was a huge success, with around 300 unique daily visitors, and as such I had a few further enquiries for web design services. I registered Wibbly Webbly Websites and began driving the company forwards.
So, 10 years later we still look after the YRDR, of which I think we’re on the 3rd iteration of their site. Wibbly Webbly Websites renamed to ICON Web Design – partly out of embarrassment of having to say it on the telephone all the time!
Over the years we have learnt many lessons, honed our skills, expanded our services but kept true to our core values; offer great websites, go above and beyond, offer brilliant value for money and try to do the right thing!
We now have a fantastic group of around 100 clients within a wide range of industries… dog walkers, electricians, schools, insurance companies, pubs, shops, surveyors and more.
A couple of years ago we offered our clients a “Managed Service“. Essentially offering a set amount of hours per month for a client to help out with their SEO, Web Development, Printing Services, Graphic Design, Photography and More… This has been a game-changer for the company and allows us the confidence to expand.
We have kicked off our 10th year by welcoming Grace and Sam to the team…

Director & Web Designer
My name is Carl and I started ICON Web Design 10 years ago. I studied Maths at Uni and afterwards started working in the care sector for the charity Sense. I later qualified as a Paramedic and will celebrate 20 years in the Ambulance Service this year. I still work the occasional shift but my main focus is developing and progressing ICON.
We have such a diverse range of clients and have a great relationship with them all. We learn so much about their industries – it is such an interesting side of the job.
P.S. I once interviewed Chris Martin from Coldplay before they got mega famous. He offered me some fruit, I didn’t want fruit. Rock and Roll Chris!

Creative GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Hi, I’m Grace, I’m from Skipton, and I have recently joined ICON as a Graphic Designer. I first became passionate about creative ideas and bringing them to life while studying Illustration at the University of Lincoln. My background in illustration, graphic design and social media design has made me particular about what I create; paying close attention to detail to make sure everything looks the best it can. In my time at ICON, I’ve already created business cards, flyers, logos, brochures, stickers, and banners for clients. I’m excited to see what else comes my way!
P.S. I was once part of breaking the world record for most people playing on a Nintendo DS simultaneously!
